Kindred

This week I read Kindred by Octavia Butler. This book is about a woman named Dana who mysteriously appears in slave times from her native time of 1976.she she appears at first to save a little boy named Rufus from drowning. When Rufus his father comes with his gun Dana is terrified and comes back to her time. This book is about her and her story with Rufus, involving him and saving him whenever his life is in danger. This book is very good. It is extremely well-written and all of the characters are very realistic and relatable, making it a very interesting read. Octavia Butler does a really good job with the descriptions of the somewhat gory scenes, and so it is a bit mature for some people. Overall this book is very worthwhile. This is because the descriptions between the modern world and the world of slaves is very physical and present, which gives you the feeling of being inside the book. This is also an amazing book for understanding racism.
