Winter Break Books

Over break I read Saving Alaska, by John Green,  Ashes, by Ilsa Bick, Shadows, by Ilsa Bick, and half  of Monsters, by Ilsa Bick.

Saving Alaska was about a kid named Pudge who goes to boarding school and meets a girl named Alaska. A tragic accident occurs and Pudge has to find his courage again. This book is pretty good, and there is a lot of drinking, smoking and sexual themes throughout.

Ashes, Shadows and Monsters are all about a girl named Alex who, when she is backpacking through the mountains, someone sets off an atomic bomb in the atmosphere and all humans on earth are either dead, a brainless cannibal, or living in fear, trying to avoid being eaten. These books are actually quite horribly disgusting, so if you get grossed out by blood, don't read them. It actually has some very interesting points to it, about sticking together and surviving war. I loved these books, they are very awesome.

  1. I've never heard of these before, and they all sound really cool. I might read the Ashes series, because I haven't read many books about apocalypses (instead of post-apocalyptic worlds).
