This week I read Watchmen, by Alan Moore and David Gibbons. It is a graphic novel about superheros in New york throughout time. It a amazing read/look and it is fascinating to find the recurring themes, lie the hiroshima lovers and the smiley face. This is probably the best book I have read for a while, and it was interesting to question the morals of all of the characters. I would strongly suggest that no first year AS students read this, because any mature content that is in print books is a lot more descriptive in pictures. There is also a lot of violence and blood, again more descriptive with pictures.
My Next Books are:
- Punch and Judy, By Neil Gaiman.
- Golden Boy.
- More that I will find at the library sometime.
I have always been curious about Watchmen. Thanks for writing this - I'll look into it.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very good book. It does sound a little too gory for me but I will keep it in mind.
